Active FX

Active FX is the fractional CO₂ laser skin resurfacing system that will improve the texture, tone and tightness of your skin. Fractional means that portions of your skin are left untreated. These bridges of intact skin promote more rapid healing and thus less down time.  The CO₂ laser uses a unique wavelength of light (10,600 nm) that targets the water in the cell vaporizing the top environmentally damaged skin. The heat from the laser promotes collagen formation which will tighten and tones. The old epithelial cells of the skin are rapidly replaced by new epithelial leaving a more beautiful skin texture free of brown blemishes. Deep FX may be added to the Active FX treatment to treat the deeper lines or acne scarring.

Active FX competes against Fraxel or Pixel which are other Fractionated treatment that uses a different wavelength. Unlike Fraxel and Pixel, Active FX is only one treatment a produces more collagen formation in one treatment than a series of 5 treatments with Fraxel.

The depth and intensity of the skin treatment can be customized to each individual. A more superficial and less dense treatment area can be set giving you a quick 5-day recovery. Want more depth for treatment of finer lines and removal of more of the brown hyperpigmentation, and the recovery may extend another 2 or 3 days. Once healed, the redness fades to a pink, which is covered with mineral makeup. Mineral makeup is rich in antioxidants which help with the healing process.

Who Is a Candidate?

Active FX is intended for facial treatments and is applicable for skin types I to IV. Patients with active suntans or darker pigmentation may experience color variation.

For patients with deeper lines around the mouth and face, the CO₂ laser can be switched to Max FX, the classic CO₂ laser treatment, which is the gold standard for removing facial lines and tightening skin. Max FX can also be used to remove epidermal skin lesions without leaving a surgical scar. Max FX requires a longer recovery time: generally 10 to 14 days.

Active FX at Truffles Medispa

Active FX is performed in our Medispa, Truffles Medispa located in Fayetteville, Georgia. You will be given prescriptions for an oral sedative and analgesic to take before the procedure. Your skin will be anesthetized with topical anesthetic, local anesthetic, and facial nerve blocks. The Zimmer Cooler will blow off the excess heat from your face to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure. You should arrange to have a family member or friend drive you home after the procedure.

We will send you home with a kit that includes hydrating ointment to keep the treated areas moist.
